Bookie?

All my life I have been quite a book junkie. Books imbibe knowledge and imagination and take you places far and wide.Surrounded by a gazillion books gives me solitude and calm. Strand Book store is one such place where I can plonk myself in a corner with a cup of chai and establish my place of zen.. The atmosphere is homey and vintage.

  1. Great inspiration! I love books too. I find it sad when I hear that libraries in universities are going electronic. It's not the same feel, isn't it? Imagine if we could have an exchange book process at Poly? Maybe in the library or a room with books nearby the cafeteria... you could sit and read, let your mind wander and wonder.
There was a great second-hand book store on Atlantic Avenue, 10 min away from campus but they closed for lack of visitors. They used to be (nearby NYU) in Manhattan and were very successful. The closest bookstore we have is Barns and Noble on Court, but I'm not even sure students know. There is also a very nice bookstore on Court Street (nearby Trader Joe: http://bookcourt.com/). It's a nice bookstore. They have some arm chairs and a nice space... less vintage, but quite homey. :-)
Maybe there could be a way to organize events with these book stores to increase awareness?
