The Victory Cafe
The Victory was a small coffee shop, 10 minutes away from NYU-Poly. It was such a great place. Patrick, the owner, was a wonderful guy. He knew all of us and you felt at home. Not a thousand of choices, but great coffee and excellent sandwiches and pastries. No cell phone and no wifi, but a feeling of community. In the spring, a few tables and chairs outdoor. I often just stopped by on my way to NYU-Poly and I just felt energized by the smiles, music, jokes and few kind words. - Anne-Laure
Unfortunately, the Victory Cafe closed last year due to unknown issues. But let us think about it, how do we recreate that?

They were forced out by the landlord, who was seeking more rent. Call it Karma, but no one has been willing to rent to location since. NYT article: http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/04/its-quirky-its-beloved-and-its-closing/
ReplyDeleteIndeed it was the landlord raising the rent and hoping to rent it for a better price. It's so had to pass by and see that indeed it is still empty. You might be right Billy: it could be Karma! :-)
